Researchers from Yildiz Technical University in Istanbul, Turkey, wrote “Molecular weight distribution of a full-scale landfill leachate treatment by membrane bioreactor and nanofiltration membrane” for the April 2013 issue of Waste Management. In the article, the scientists used 500 Da CE membrane to decrease Specific UV absorbance (SUVA) values in landfill leachate.
The scientists’ objective was to develop a plan for landfill leachate treatment that crossed multiple types of pollutants. “This study…was focused on determination of MW distributionof main leachate pollutants which may contribute to improve of the leachate treatment systems.”
Abstract: In this study, Molecular weight (MW) distributions of a full-scale landfill leachate treatment plant consisting of membrane bioreactor (MBR) and nanofiltration (NF) membrane were investigated. The leachate was sampled from the equalization tank, and effluents of MBR and NF membrane in the landfill leachate treatment plant. Click here to read the article.
Biologically inert & ultra-pure, Biotech Cellulose Ester (CE) Membrane offers the largest range of concise MWCO’s (100 – 1,000,000 Daltons) for desalting, isolating ionic species and macromolecular purifications. Biotech CE membrane is more sensitive to harsh conditions and solvents and generally tolerates weak or dilute acids & bases and mild alcohols with only a slight change to the MWCO.
