Researchers from Yildiz Technical University in Istanbul, Turkey, wrote “Molecular weight distribution of a full-scale landfill leachate treatment by membrane bioreactor and nanofiltration membrane” for the April 2013 issue of Waste Management. In the article, the scientists used 500 Da CE membrane to decrease Specific UV absorbance (SUVA) values in landfill leachate.

The scientists’ objective was to develop a plan for landfill leachate treatment that crossed multiple types of pollutants. “This study…was focused on determination of MW distributionof main leachate pollutants which may contribute to improve of the leachate treatment systems.”
